I. OVERVIEW INFORMATION ABOUT HOSEI UNIVERSITY

Hosei University was formerly known as Tokyo Law School. This is the first private university in Japan to establish a Faculty of Law and a Faculty of Social Sciences. Besides specialized programs in Japanese, Hosei University also offers programs with English-based Degrees for Undergraduate students.

III. ENGLISH-BASED DEGREE PROGRAMS – SCHOLARSHIPS FOR INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS

1. Tuition Reduction Scholarships

Eligible undergraduate students may receive a tuition reduction depending on their grades as follows: 

1st year students 30% tuition reduction  
2nd, 3rd and 4th year students with excellent academic performance  40% or 50% tuition reduction depending on their academic performance.

2. Scholarships for Undergraduate students

HOSEI International Fund (HIF) International Student Scholarship  2nd, 3rd and 4th year students with excellent academic performance Humanities: 200.000 JPY per year

Sciences: 2500.000 JPY per year

New HOSEI University Centennial Scholarship  2nd, 3rd and 4th year students who require financial assistance for their academic studies Humanities: 200.000 JPY per year

Sciences: 2500.000 JPY per year

HU Co., Ltd. Scholarship  2nd, 3rd and 4th year students who require financial assistance for their academic studies Humanities: 200.000 JPY per year

Sciences: 2500.000 JPY per year

Scholarship of International Students from Designated-Country by HOSEI University  1st grade students with excellent academic performance from any one of these countries, Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, or Vietnam 300.000 JPY per year

Global Scholarship by HOSEI University 

2nd, 3rd and 4th year students with Financial difficulties and a “Dependent” status of residences. Humanities: 200.000 JPY per year

IV. ENGLISH-BASED DEGREE PROGRAMS – APPLICATION PROCESS

1. The process includes eight steps:

Step 1: Read the Application guidelines and prepare application documents in advance

Step 2: Refer to How to Apply and then register My Page, photograph, personal information and application information

Step 3: Access the Hosei University My Page and register the applicant information

The application process can be opened from 10:00 am on the first day of the application period

Step 4: Screening fee payment must be completed with the credit cards shown below

*If you are paying by credit card, your application will be processed at the time of Registration and Application

Step 5: Upload “Self-introduction video” and “Essay” on My Page

*The necessity of these depends on the program and its admission category

*“Essay” might be called in other names such as “Statement of Purpose” or “Statement of reasons” depending on the program

Step 6: Print out the “Enrollment Request Form” on the next page and send all application documents together to Hosei University by post no later than the specified deadline
